You can read the summary of The Water Travelers here.

Daniel is a fellow blogger and budding author. His debut novel, The Water Travelers is a story rich in adventure and fantasy. And I think Daniel has the potential to grow into a successful author. Did I love this book? No. And that’s okay.

Having read too many YA novels has ruined my brain box. I can sniff out plot twists, love triangles, and endings just by how characters are introduced. This novel is no exception. I knew from the moment I learned of the main character’s dilemma that there was going to be a love interest. I didn’t realize that it was going to be so insta-lovey. We can all say ew to insta-love because it’s not very believable. But it’s whatever… it’s his party and he can insta-love if he wants to. Also, I knew that there was going to be a twist involving a character we meet in the first few chapters, but that’s because I have spidey senses.

Moving on. What did I like? The setting. Daniel’s world building was excellent. I really liked the realm that is Upitar and the entire concept of traveling by water. That’s pretty spectacular. Not to mention original. The writing was good, though I think with some more editing it could be awesome. I will definitely be keeping Daniel on my radar.

I may give this one another go in 6 ish months. I’ve been reading the Kate Daniels series {Currently waiting on 5.5 to be delivered} and y’all, I think they’ve ruined me for any other book I read. It’s like feasting on sweet lobster and then eating a bowl of Cap’n Crunch. You LOOOOVE Cap’n Crunch but that damn lobster has ruined your palate. That’s basically what Kate Daniels has done for me right now. Thanks, Shandra. Thanks for ruining my book palate. 🙂

Anyway, I hope you fellow readers and bloggers give Daniel’s novel a chance. And if not his novel, then maybe visit his blog and see what the fuss is all about!

Peace out nerds.
