***I AM SO BEHIND ON REVIEWS, Y’ALL!!! BUT I PROMISE THEY’RE COMING*** I’m sure you are all sighing with relief, right? That’s what I thought.
Moving on. The Warrior Heir. This was my first Cinda Williams Chima novel and I have a feeling it will not be my last. Not only because this novel is a series, but because her writing was a breath of fresh air for me. I read a lot of fantasy, high fantasy and YA novels where authors insist on flowery prose. Chima writes straight-forwardly without being simple. She conveyed her thoughts so clearly that I was transported into her world effortlessly. I didn’t have to go back and reread a word-choked sentence. I didn’t lose track of the story line due to confusing wording. For this, I thank you Cinda.
Needless to say, I enjoyed this story immensely. I can’t say too much without giving anything away, but I loved Chima’s take on magic and its echelons. How magic could be passed down from generation to generation akin to detached earlobes. Chima builds this world within our world perfectly. I loved the characters and the action and the suspense and the twists. OHHHH WAIT! I lied. Sorry. The twists were a TAD predictable, but that’s my only gripe. Overall, this one gets a 4 out of 5 on Goodreads from this booknerd.
I will definitely be recommending this one to anyone who can read, no matter the age. They just have to be able to read… obviously.
