You can find the summary for Steelheart here.

I’ll be honest with you…I never would have picked this book up on my own. I have my booknerd friends over on Goodreads to thank for this introduction. I’ve never read a Brandon Sanderson novel but know that many of my friends suffer from Sandersonitis {not an original term}. I can see why, peeps. Sanderson is a wordsmith. He is a metaphor genius. He is the Master Chief of high fantasy.

I’ll be honest with you again…it took me an unusually long time to get into this book. The prologue was excellent but then I hit a wall. A steel wall, if you will {see what I did there?}. This novel is broken up into 4 parts and it wasn’t until the 3rd part that I finally got invested. Let me just say that I am so SO glad I stuck with this story.

I won’t say too much about the storyline {I don’t like to be a spoiler} but if you’re a lover of X-Men and mutants and good guys vs bad guys then you are going to love this book! There are a few twists {some you see coming and some you don’t} that make your head explode in a good way. There’s action and sarcasm and characters you wish you had on your speed dial. My only complaints are small: YA Slang {shame on you, Brandon Sanderson}, some of the city names were stupid {Newcago? C’mon dude}, and the “love” felt a bit contrived. It seemed a tad forced even though I understand why it was done. I get it. I do. But nevertheless, that’s how I feel.

Okay, well, that pretty much covers it {I have no idea what I just wrote but I’m 82% sure it covers what I wanted to say}. Remember: Mutant humans, good vs evil, fighting, metaphors, assassins. If you like any of what I just mentioned then you’ll like this book.

Happy reading, dudes.

Ps. Firefight {The Reckoners #2} will be released January 6th. Heck yes.
