Accidental Book Haul

This evening I had the pleasure of hanging out with my dear friend Annie. She informed me that she and her husband are moving back home to Baton Rouge and lemme tell you…it took everything out of me to NOT cry at dinner. She will be so missed. Anyway, she and I got to talking about books (Duh!) and I convinced her that she NEEDED Outlander in her life. Needless to say we paid a visit to Barnes and Noble! And needless to say….I ended up with 4 new books. *shakes head* My willpower doesn’t even get out of the car when I pull up to the bookstore. It’s quite sad. But I did end up with these beauts….

The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani – I’ve been skating around this one for a good bit and after talking an 11-year-old into reading it, I felt it was my time as well.

Chocolat by Joanne Harris – I’m in the middle of The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender and my friend Katherine said it had that Chocolat feel to it. Having only seen the movie, I felt I needed to give the book a shot.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows – This was an Annie recommendation! I can’t wait to read this one.

The Dog Stars by Peter Heller – This has been on my radar for the longest time and I bit the bullet finally.

  1. Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society is wonderful! Fresh and humorous. Totally recommend as well. Also, I would like to read Chocolat. Another book that seems similar and really interests me is The Hundred Foot Journey. Also in France, also about food and people from different experiences coming together!

    • I’m so excited to read the potato peel pie book:) I’ve seen chocolat but decided that I should read it also. I’ll look up The Hundred Good Journey:) thanks for the recommendation!

  2. Sorry to hear about your friend moving away. 

I’ll be curious to hear what you think about Chocolat (enjoyed the movie). I recently read Heller’s The Painter; heard nothing but great things about Stars.

    • Thanks!

I loved the movie so I’m sure the book will be better. My best told me that Stars was really good so naturally I had to get it. I have The Painter on my list as well.

  3. Ooooh I also have School for Good and Evil, and I must say it looks very interesting. So I’ll look forward to the review for that one. ;]
