The Liebster Blog Award

Thank you to the amazing Hayley Knighten for nominating me for the Liebster Blog Award! *happy dance*

This is an award given from bloggers to bloggers, acknowledging new and fun blogs! What a fun way to spread the blog love! If you choose to accept the award, the rules are below 🙂

Okay, so, let the fun begin! 11 {not so interesting} facts about moi:

1) I’m really bad about coming up with random facts about myself.

2) I have a hatred that burns with a fire of a thousand suns for…onions.

3) I. Cry. Every. Day! I haven’t cried yet but the day is young.

4) I’m from New Orleans, LA. If you’ve never been, I suggest you visit…just not during Mardi Gras {you won’t get the full effect of just how amazing  the city really is…because you’ll be too drunk}

5) I have a ginger kitty named Charlie who is the best worst cat on the planet. She’s crazy but she’s my crazy.

Meet Charlie, the best hider in all the world.

Meet Charlie, the best hider in all the world.

6) I’m a pro at quoting movies. I don’t quote them like it’s my job…it IS my job.

7)  My favorite movie is The Goonies.

8) I collect copies of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith… it’s safe to say that it’s my most favorite book. If you haven’t read it yet, you should!

9) I don’t like Bob Dylan or Neil Young or Bruce Springsteen. I just don’t. I know as music love I should but I just…*shakes head*

10) I have a big sister and a little sister… we are all roughly 10 years apart.

11) I would love to be a Literary Agent when I grow up.

Okay, now for Hayley’s questions:

1) What is your favorite book?
That would be A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. It’s a coming-of-age tale about a, Irish-American girl named Francie Nolan, who is growing up in a tenement in Williamsburg, NY at the turn of the century. It’s a story about life. It is amazing how I can pick the book up and still be moved by the words I read. Without fail I cry at the same scenes, laugh and sigh with relief at others. This is a book that, if you read it, will stay with you forever.

2) How long have you been blogging?
I started this blog March 8, 2014. So, a month and one day ago. It’s been so rewarding and fun!!

3) Where do you buy most of your books?
I flip-flop between Barnes and Noble and Amazon. B&N is for the days when I’m in instant-gratification-mode and Amazon is for the days when I’m in I-really-want-to-buy-these-books-but-I-can’t-spend-all-the-money-mode.

4) Do you have a preference for books written from a certain point-of-view. Which is it and why?
You know, I really don’t have a preference. A lot of what I read is in third person which is fine… except for when the author creates a disconnect and I can’t latch on emotionally. I tend to get more attached to characters written in the first person, for obvious reasons.

5) Who is your favorite literary character?
Hmmmmm…. good question. My immediate response is Luna Lovegood. Her quirk and insight and loveliness made me want to be her friend. I love how she walks to the beat of her own drum. She never backs down from how she feels, no matter who is scoffing or rolling their eyes. I just love her!

6) What upcoming release are you most looking forward to this year?
Well, both happened yesterday. Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor was released and I went to get it on my lunch break. It’s the final installment in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy. I cannot read this book fast enough yet I’m afraid to finish it. This trilogy is bananas! Also released yesterday was Noggin by John Corey Whaley. I’ve been watching for this one since last year! Great author…you guys check him out!

7) What was the last book you read all in one sitting?
*refers back to Goodreads reading challenge* Ummmm, Love Letters to the Dead…I think.

8) What really popular book or book series have you still not read?
The correct answer is the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. I have the first novel just chillin on my TBR shelf but I just haven’t gotten to it yet. One of these days though…

9) Do you participate in NaNoWriMo or Camp NaNoWriMo?
I do not but I do like saying it because it makes me giggle to my self.

10) What is your favorite genre?
I find that Young Adult dominates my bookshelf, though I’m not a book snob…I’ll read anything that sounds interesting to me or catches my eye.

11) What are your writing and/or reading goals for this month?
Last month I read about 15 books, so this month I’d like to at least read 20. I’m 5 in already so that’s promising.

Now it’s my turn to nominate bloggers!! I read that the rules have changed and then they were changed back and it’s a tad confusing, so I’m just going to nominate a handful of awesome bloggers who always have great things share:
